USCC Responds to False News Report

Steven Hawkins, CEO of US Cannabis Council, released the following statement:

“The Daily Beast report is riddled with factual errors. The reporter mischaracterized and misattributed a slide deck, which was one of many proposals prepared by members and outside groups for consideration as USCC prepared its comments on the forthcoming Cannabis Administration and Opportunity Act.

“The proposals represented a wide range of viewpoints. That's because USCC is a broad strategic alliance that draws support from across the cannabis industry as well as the cannabis and criminal justice reform movements. We strongly reject efforts to misrepresent our views.

“The slides that were reported by the Daily Beast were briefly discussed at a meeting before being set aside and forgotten. Our extensive internal deliberations and outside consultations continued, resulting in our detailed  comments and recommendations on the Cannabis Administration and Opportunity Act.
